What is FSSAI License

Types Of FSSAI Food Licenses


FSSAI licensing body has categorised FSSAI registration into 3 types (Basic registration, FSSAI State License, and FSSAI Central License) according to the following criteria and nature of FBOs.

Note : As per the new norm of FSSAI. The applicants are required to pay only Initial fee of ₹1000 + 18% GST on it for their FSSAI licenses. However once the application is processed and passed by the licensing authorities then the rest of the differential amount i,e respective license fee along with differential GST has to be paid by the applicant within 30 working days. If the applicant failed to pay the amount then approval will be auto rejected.

  1. Declaration through form A

  3. Form IX nomination of a person by a company along with the board. (form IX is not required in the case of a proprietor)
  4. Government-issued identity card
  5. Detail of kind of business ( KOB )
  6. NOC from the municipality or any recognised legal local body “if required”
  7. Source of raw material
  1. Form B application for licence/renewal of a licence under FSS act 2006
  2. Premise details in square metres and metres along with layout
  3. Recall plan
  4. Form IX nomination
  5. List of directors with full details in case of a company
  6. Partnership deed / self-declaration for Proprietorship
  7. Copy of certificate obtained under Coop Act-1861/ Multi-State Coop Act-2002 in case of Cooperative (wherever applicable)
  8. In the case of groundwater NOC from CGWA is necessary
  9. Name and list of equipment and machinery along with numbers
  10. Authorised identity proof
  1. Self-declaration through form B
  2. NOC from municipality
  3. Proof of ownership of the premise or NOC from the owner “ if rented
  4. Authorised Photo identity card
  5. Import-export code issued by DGFT
  6. Ministry of commerce certificate for 100% EOU
  7. Certification from the ministry of tourism in the case of hotels
  8. NOC/PA issued by FSSAI
  9. Food safety management plan
  10. Must have certificate obtained under COOP-act 1861 and multi-state act 2002
  11. The Source of raw materials must be provided
  12. In case of water is used as an ingredient then must have a test report of water from the authorised test report from concerned authorities

How to get FSSAI License - Step by Step Procedure



Process fssai Registration

Step-1 online Application

You need to file an online application on the FosCos website for the FSSAI registration or License as per the nature of your FBO. Fill out the FORM-A or FORM-B accordingly and upload all necessary documents as asked, along with the respective registration/license fee.

Step -2 Inspection by FSSAI

Authorities will apprehend your application within-7 working days, and if the application is rejected, then an inspection will be held by the food safety office at the premises.

Step -3 Approval from FSSAI

After the Food Safety Officer completes the inspection and document verification, they will approve issuing your FSSAI registration to concerned licensing authorities.

Step -4 Issuance of License/Registration

FSSAI license or registration will be issued by India's food safety and standard authority ( FSSAI ) within 25-30 days. A 14-digit unique number and an FSSAI logo with be provided on your registered Email ID

  • The cost of an FSSAI State license varies from Rs. 2,000 - 5,000 per year according to the kind of Business and capacity of an FBO.
  • The Cost of the FSSAI Central License is Rs. 7,500 + 18% GST per annum.
