Application Procedure for FSSAI Basic Registration

The FSSAI basic registration process is mentioned below:

  1. Application in form-A has to be filed with a fee of Rs.100/-
  2. Get a unique application reference number.
  3. After the above process, the Registering Authority may accept or reject the registration. Thus, the reasons have to be recorded in writing within seven days of receipt of the application which has been registered by the food business operator.
  4. If the proposal is granted, the food business operator may start the business.
  5. If necessary, the RA may issue a notice for inspection.
  6. The inspection will be ordered within seven days.
  7. If the process of inspection is granted, then the inspection will be done within 30 days.
  8. If the process is completed successfully, the registration can be taken forward, and the FBO may commence the operations.

  1. FSSAI Basic Registration: A businessman having a turnover of up to 12 lakhs can go for the basic registration. FBO can opt to register the business with the basic registration if they are a small sized food product manufacturer, marketer, storage unit holder, retailer or distributor.
  2. FSSAI State License: FBOs that are not covered under schedule 1 of FSS Regulations, 2011 along with having a turnover of 12lakh to 20crore rupees must have state license.
  3. FSSAI Central License: FBO having turnover of more than 20 crores are mandatory to have FSSAI Central License. Also, FBOs operating in more than one state and covered under schedule 1 of FSS Regulations, 2011 should have central license.
