BIS is abbreviated as Bureau of Indian Standards which is a national standard body of India that enforces the set standards for a wide range of products. BIS is responsible for granting licenses to such manufacturers whose standards comply with the relevant Indian Standards. Foreign manufacturers who want to trade within India have to certify according to the Indian Market to ensure there is no misrepresentation or unethical trade.FMCS is a mandatory requirement for manufacturers producing or selling Oil Pressure Stoves to prevent the occurrence of mishappenings.
BIS FMCS Sample
Preparation: The manufacturer has to ensure that all the terms and conditions set by the BIS are agreed upon to begin the process of obtaining the FMCS certification. They have to assemble all the required documents to be submitted during the application process i.e. manufacturing process, quality control parameters, manufacturing equipment, raw materials used, etc.
Registration Form: The manufacturer has to pay the registration fee and fill in the application form to register their firm for FMCS certification. He/she must ensure to fill in all the necessary details. The manufacturer can visit the FMCD department for submission of documents or they can register online at the portal.
Issue Raised (If any): If the authorities find any missing or incomplete information in the submitted application form, an email is sent to the organization informing them about the same.
Nomination of AIR: Authorization of Indian Representative is abbreviated as AIR. AIR is nominated by the manufacturer to represent the firm in front of the BIS authorities. A person who knows FMCS, oil pressure stoves, and government rules and regulations is eligible to become an AIR.
Factory Audit:: The authorities visit the factory premises to investigate the quality control parameters, location, machinery, production process, testing facilities, etc. The manufacturer has to pay the audit fee for the audit to occur.
Product Sample: The BIS authorities collect the sample oil pressure stoves to test the conformity of standards. The sample is assessed at the In-House laboratory or BIS-approved and NABL-certified laboratories.
Laboratory Results: Issuance of certification depends on the results of the laboratory reports. If the laboratory results are negative which means the oil pressure stoves aren’t compliant with the Indian Standards -the license is not granted. On the contrary, positive reports mean compliance of standards with Indian Standards, and thus license is granted.
Issuance of Certification: The certificate is granted to the manufacturer after he/she pays off the license fee. The manufacturer also has to pay USD 10,000 as a Performance bank guarantee along with signing an indemnity bond with the authorities.
Compliance with standards leads to the issuance of an FMCS license. The initial validity of the license is for 2 years. The manufacturing firm will have to pay for the renewal of the license after which the renewed license is issued. The renewed license can be used for a minimum of 1 year to a maximum of 5 years. A late fee of Rs 5,000 is to be paid by the manufacturer for renewing the license after its expiry date.
