What is ZED Certification?

ZED Certification program is an extended effort to educate MSMEs about Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) practices, motivate and reward them for pursuing ZED Certification, and inspire them to serve as MSME Champions. Level-wise documents for ZED certificate 

There are three categories for ZED certificates, and each has its own set of documentation.

1.Documents Required for Bronze certificate

The documents required for Bronze Certificate are as follows:

• Udyam Registration Certificate: It is necessary for all MSMEs in India to register under the Udyam system. Issued by the MSME Ministry, the certificate is required for applying to various government subsidies and schemes.
• PAN Card: A 10-digit alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department. It acts as an identification number uniquely for individuals and businesses.

• Quality Policy: The organization's policy on quality, including quality objectives and the manner of their attainment.
• Quality Management Procedures: Specific steps taken by the company to ensure quality standards for products and services.
• Records of Quality Audits: Documents of audits that measure the quality management system.
• Corrective and Preventive Actions Records: Documents containing the corrective and preventive actions taken when non-conformities are noted from audits or reviews.
• Other possible documents, depending upon the industry:
• Environmental Compliance Certificate: Proves that the company follows national environmental laws.
• Occupational Health and Safety Certificate: Indicates compliance with national laws on health and safety.
• Product Certification: It ascertains that the company's products meet required standards of quality.
• ISO Certification: Shows that the quality management system meets a recognized international standard, such as ISO 9001.

2.Documents Required for Silver certificate

The documents required for Silver Certificate are as follows:

• Udyam Registration Certificate: The registration of MSMEs on the Udyam portal is mandatory. Issued by the MSME Ministry; required for government incentives and programs.
• PAN Card: A 10-digit alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department, serving as a unique ID for every individual and business.
• GST Registration Certificate: Contains the 15-digit GST registration number for GST-registered businesses.
• Business Address Proof: Any document showing the business address, such as lease agreement, electricity bill, etc.
• Contact Information: Name, telephone number, and e-mail of the contact person.
• Organization Chart: A diagram illustrating the organization’s structure and reporting hierarchy.
• Quality Policy: The organization’s policy on quality, including objectives and methods to achieve them.
• Quality Management Procedures: The steps and processes a business follows to ensure quality.
• Records of Quality Audits: Documentation of audits conducted on the quality management system.
• Records of Corrective and Preventive Actions: Actions taken for any non-conformities identified.
• EMS Procedures: The environmental management plan and organizational environmental goals.
• OHSMS Policy and Procedures: Occupational Health and Safety commitments and steps to achieve them.
• EnMS Policy and Procedures: Energy management policy, procedures, commitments, and implementation steps.
• Records of Environmental, OHS, and Energy Audits: Audit documentation for EMS, OHSMS, and EnMS.
• Corrective and Preventive Actions for Environmental, OHS, and Energy Issues: Actions taken to resolve non-conformities found during audits.
• Other Industry-Specific Documents:
  • Product Safety Management System Procedures: Shows commitment to product safety and methods used to meet safety goals.
  • ISMS Policy and Procedures: Information Security commitments and safeguards implemented by the organization.

3.Documents Required for Gold certificate

The documents required for Gold Certificate are as follows:

• Udyam Registration Certificate: Any MSME has to get registered with Udyam; issued by the MSME Ministry; required for government incentives and schemes.
• PAN Card: The unique 10-digit alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department identifies individuals and businesses.

• Records of Sustainable Development Audits: Audit records for SDMS
• Records of Corrective and Preventive Measures for Sustainable Development Issues: Actions taken for non-conformities found.
• Other documents - depending on the industry:
• Policy and Procedures for Social Responsibility Management System (SRMS): The organization's social responsibility commitments and how goals are reached.
• ESG Reporting: The environmental, social, and governance performance of the company.
