FSSAI is a regulatory body established under the ministry of health and family welfare. It grants registration and license to food business operators in their respective states and cities per the criteria described in the FSS Act. All FBOs working in Goa are expected to have an FSSAI registration in Goa for the commerce of their food business. The food safety and standard authority is a governing body that regulates, governs and issues FSSAI registration in Goa or FSSAI license to all the food business operators. The registration is a 14-digit numerical number assigned to FBOs by the food licensing authority; after registration, it contains all the necessary details about the food manufacturers. All FBOs are required to obtain an FSSAI registration accordingly.
As per the food safety and standard act 2006, all food businesses are eligible to obtain an FSSAI registration in Goa, and the criteria for registration depends on the nature of FBO and annual turnover.

These are the following types of registration allocated to FBOs as per their criteria.
Basic FSSAI registration is the entry-level food license. All small food businesses having a turnover not more than Rs. 12 lakh per annum are liable to file for basic registration.
Such as;
Food business operators like manufacturers, import-export operators, restaurants, and processing units having a turnover of more than 12 LPA up to 20 crores per annum are required to have an FSSAI state licence in Goa.
FBOs have a turnover of more than Rs. 20cr per annum, or operating in multiple states, such FBOs require FSSAI central license from the central licensing authority. For FBOs who are working at the government premises.

To get an online FSSAI registration in Goa or FSSAI license, applicants must file a request on the FosCos website and fill out a form A or form B, respectively, as per the nature of their food business. Must submit all the necessary documents online on the FosCos web application. After submission of fees, you will get an Application registration number which can be used to track the status of the application using our FSSAI status checking tool.
After the completion of the filing of the online application, FSSAI authorities will act on the application within 7 days as per the guidelines. If the respective body rejects the application, then an inspection will be held by the FSSAI food safety officer for further process.
The food safety officer will give clearance only after inspection of the premises. Once the approval is given, the licensing authority will proceed to issue the FSSAI registration.
The licensing authorities will issue an FSSAI license within 30 days after the completion of the process. and will provide the 14-digit license/ FSSAI registration number on the registered Email address to the respective applicants.
As per the FSS guidelines the registration & license fee for FSSAI is classified into 3 classes.
Also, in addition burden of 18% goods and services tax on fssai fees and penalty has to be carry by the applicant.

Note : As per the new norm of FSSAI. The applicants are required to pay only Initial fee of ₹1000 + 18% GST on it for their FSSAI licenses. However once the application is processed and passed by the licensing authorities then the rest of the differential amount i,e respective license fee along with differential GST has to be paid by the applicant within 30 working days. If the applicant failed to pay the amount then approval will be auto rejected.
