The Food safety and standard authority of India (FSSAI) is an apex authority that regulates and sets guidelines for food safety and standards across the nation. FSSAI is also responsible for allocating food licence and FSSAI registration in Varanasi to respective food business operators as per the nature and criteria of their food company.

FSSAI licence or registration is a 14-digit unique numeric identity number given to all registered FBOs and the FSSAI logo. FSSAI has sub-classified their FSSAI registration/license into 3 categories based on the criteria of the Food Business Operator (FBO):
The FSSAI basic registration is the simplest form of licensing given to petty food business operators having a turnover of not more than ₹12 lakh rupees per annum.
Food business operators with an annual turnover between ₹12 lakh and ₹20 crore are required to have an FSSAI State License in Varanasi, as per FSSAI regulations.
FBOs with an annual turnover exceeding ₹20 crore or those operating in more than one state must obtain an FSSAI Central License from the Central Licensing Authority (CLA).
To obtain an online FSSAI license in Varanasi or FSSAI registration, applicants must submit their application on the FosCos website and fill out a form-A and Form-B accordingly, per their criteria KOBs. Must submit all the documents online through the FosCos portal.
After filing the online application, FSSAI authorities will act on the request within 7 days as per the rules. If the application is rejected, then an inspection will be held by the food safety officer for further process.
After the satisfactory inspection and document verification by the FSSAI authorities will approve the IssuanceIssuance of an FSSAI license or the FSSAI registration by the licencing authority.
The 14-digit FSSAI registration/license will be issued through email within 25-30 days after the completion of approval and verification.

Note : As per the new norm of FSSAI. The applicants are required to pay only Initial fee of ₹1000 + 18% GST on it for their FSSAI licenses. However once the application is processed and passed by the licensing authorities then the rest of the differential amount i,e respective license fee along with differential GST has to be paid by the applicant within 30 working days. If the applicant failed to pay the amount then approval will be auto rejected.
