FMCS Registraation for Capacitors - Fee, Process & Documnets Required

FMCS means Foreign Manufacturer’s Certification Scheme. This scheme is established by the Bureau of Indian Standards. FMCS is mandatory for Foreign Manufacturers willing to expand their business within India. Capacitor manufacturers are not allowed to export or import capacitors within India without obtaining an FMCS license. Capacitors are thoroughly inspected to prevent any accidents like fires, short circuits, etc. FMCS license is given as a result of favorable test results. The FMCS license's initial certification is valid for two years. The manufacturer is then obliged to pay a renewal fee to maintain their FMCS license. A renewed certificate is given following the successful payment of the license renewal fee. A renewed certificate has a minimum one-year and a maximum five-year validity period. The BIS officials would impose a late fee of Rs 5,000 on the producer if the certification is kept active after the original certification's expiration date.

Note : It typically takes 2-3 months to obtain FMCS Certification from the BIS licensing authority.
