FMCS refers to the Foreign Manufacturer Certification Scheme. It states that any International Manufacturer willing to sell their product within India will have to obtain an FMCS license prior. Manufacturers make sure they adhere to the standards set by the BIS authorities to obtain the license.
Transparent Float Glass Manufacturer must comply with IS 14900:2018. This standard specifies the requirements and testing methods for the Transparent Float Glass. Glasses are produced in a manner that is flat, transparent, clear, and has a smooth surface. Manufacturer has to ensure the quality, safety, and reliability of the float glass.
BIS FMCS Sample
Preparation: Manufacturers are required to accept the BIS FMCS's terms and conditions to conduct business in India. Along with this, the manufacturer must assemble all necessary paperwork, including flowcharts of the manufacturing process, a list of the equipment used, a business license, laboratory results, a list of the raw materials, etc.
Registration Form: The manufacturer must register themselves and pay the registration cost to get an FMCS license after gathering the necessary documentation. The business personnel can apply offline at the FMCD department in Delhi and online at the BIS website by completing the necessary paperwork. He or she must fill out the application form with truthful and precise information.
Issue Raised (if any): Only complete, accurate, and error-free applications are accepted by authorities. If the authorities find any errors, they will send an email to the company informing them of the problems with the application form.
Nomination of AIR: Authorized Indian Representative is known as AIR. The organization appoints an AIR to represent the organization before the BIS authorities. In addition to being a resident of India, an AIR must also be a citizen of that country and be knowledgeable with FMCS and transparent float glass.
Factory Audit: Manufacturers are responsible for covering the costs of the audit. BIS representatives visit the manufacturing plant to assess the whole production cycle. The effectiveness of its machinery, how strictly quality control standards are followed, the production process, the raw materials utilized, etc. are all taken into consideration.
Product Sample: BIS personnel gather a sample of the devices to assess the Transparent Float Glass' performance, reliability, quality, and safety criteria. The sample is assessed in both internal and BIS-approved laboratories to gain a deeper understanding of compliance.
Laboratory Results: If the laboratory results are unfavorable and reveal that the Transparent Float Glass does not fulfill BIS criteria, the license-issuing process is stopped. However, if the examination is fruitful and demonstrates that the Transparent Float Glass complies with BIS requirements, the procedure for issuing an FMCS license proceeds.
Issuance of Certification: The manufacturer is required to pay both the FMCS license fee and the advance minimum marking cost. The company will receive an FMCS license if the fees are paid and the prerequisite requirements are met.
Indemnity Bond and PBG: The manufacturer has to sign an indemnity bond with the BIS authorities. Along with that, the manufacturer has to pay USD 10,000 as Performance Bank Guarantee.
An FMCS license is valid for the first two years following certification. After that, the producer must pay a renewal fee to keep their FMCS license valid. A renewed certificate is sent when the license renewal cost has been successfully paid. A renewal certificate has a one- to five-year validity duration. The BIS authorities will charge the manufacturer a late fee of Rs 5,000 if the certification is still in effect after the original certification's expiration date.
