The Income Tax Department has extended the date of filing TDS for the fourth quarter of the financial year 2020-2021 from 31st May to June 30, 2021. CBDT furthermore stated the reason for this. They mentioned in their notice, “On consideration of genuine hardship being faced by the taxpayers in making various compliances under the Income-tax Act. 1961 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) in view of a severe pandemic, the Central Board of Direct Taxes, in the exercise of its power under Section 119 of the Act, provides relaxation in respect of the following compliances.”
In short the new deadlines for the compliances have been extended while looking at the current state situation of the country.
