What is ZED Certification?

The MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification program is an extended effort to educate MSMEs about Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) practices, motivate and reward them for pursuing ZED Certification, and inspire them to serve as MSME Champions. MSMEs may considerably reduce waste, increase productivity, spread knowledge of environmental issues, save energy, make the most use of available resources, increase market share, etc. through the ZED Certification process. MSMEs will be encouraged to embrace best practices in work culture, and standardization of goods, procedures, and systems, among other things, in order to increase their sustainability and competitiveness on a worldwide scale. The ZED Certification is not merely a certification since it strives to increase an MSME's competitiveness through evaluation, support, management technological intervention, etc. There are 2 phases in this scheme.

For MSMEs in manufacturing with UDYAM registration,

Phase 1. The main goal of this phase will be to include manufacturing MSMEs as much as possible and guide them through the ZED process.

Phase 2: Inclusion of MSMEs in the service sector. The MSMEs (manufacturing and service sectors) that are registered under a State Government protocol or system but not on UDYAM will also attempt to be integrated during this phase. From this point forward, more data on MSME operations and performance may be gathered to develop a National MSME Competitiveness Index.
