NSIC (National Small Industries Corporation Limited), established in 1955, is a Mini Ratna Category-I Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (M/o MSME), Government of India. • Enterprise must be classified either as Micro or Small based on investment in plant, machinery and annual turnover (Micro Enterprise- investment in plant and machinery not exceeding ₹1 crore and turnover not exceeding ₹5 crore) (Small Enterprise- investment not exceeding ₹10 crore and turnover not exceeding ₹50 crore) (Medium Enterprise- investment not exceeding ₹50 crore and turnover not exceeding ₹250 crore)

• Must have completed one year or more in commercial production

SPRS was launched in 1976 to increase the share of purchases from small-scale industries in government procurement. Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) must have Udyam Registration to avail benefits under SPRS.

• Exemption from tender fees in government tenders.
• Exemption from Earnest Money Deposit (EMD).
• Government departments and PSUs are required to procure a minimum of 25% of their goods and services from MSEs.
• MSEs whose quoted prices fall within the L1 + 15% price band are eligible to participate in government procurement.
• 4% of procurement is reserved for SC/ST-owned MSEs, while 3% is reserved for women-owned MSEs.
• A total of 358 items are reserved for exclusive procurement from the Small-Scale Industry (SSI) sector.
• NSIC supports skill enhancement programmes for MSME entrepreneurs.
• Easy access to loans and advances through banks at lower interest rates.
