Import Export Code (IEC) Registration Certificate in Ujjain

Any Proprietorship firm, LLP, Company, Trust, LUF or Individual engaged in any of the following foreign trade activities is eligible for obtaining an IEC Code :

1. Commercial Import and Export of goods across borders
2. Availing benefits under Foreign Trade Policy.
3. Shipment Clearance
4. Custom Clearance
5. Monetary Transaction in foreign currency

1. PAN Card of the Business Entity
2. Address Proof (Electricity Bill, Rent Agreement, or Lease Deed)
3. Business Registration Certificate (Company Registration, Partnership Deed, LLP Agreement, or relevant certification)
4. Bank Account Details (Cancelled Cheque or Banker’s Certificate)
5. Identity Proof of Authorized Person (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License)
6. Passport Size Photograph of the Authorized Person

• Register on the DGFT portal: The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is the official government portal for IEC registration. Start by creating an account on this portal.
• Documentation: Collect, organize, and prepare all necessary documents for the IEC application. Refer to the checklist to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Application for Import Export Code: Submit the online IEC application using ANF 2A(i), upload all required documents, and pay the applicable government fee.
• Verification by DGFT: DGFT reviews the submitted information. Any incorrect or incomplete details can cause delays or rejection, so accuracy is critical.
• Approval and Issuance of IEC Code: Upon verification and approval, the IEC is issued electronically (e-IEC). Updates are sent via email or SMS once it is available on the DGFT portal.

The Validity of an IEC code is One year . Unlike other government licenses, The Import Export Code was valid for a lifetime. However, after the amendments in Foreign Trade Policy on 12th February 2021, the import-export code has now to be renewed every year.

This amendment made the renewal of Import Export Code details mandatory for every IEC and e-EIC holder. Even if there are no updates in IEC, the same has to be confirmed online on the DGFT portal. Failing to do so may result in your Import Export code deactivation.
