Permissions Required to Import Used Tyres in India

In order to import used tyres in India, merchants are required to obtain following permissions from the authority.

  • Merchants are required to produce clearance from ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEF&CC)

Guidelines of MoEF&CC for Import of Used Tyres in India

The restrictions on imports of live animals are imposed for various reasons, including.

  1. Importers are required to submit an undertaking stating that they will only import those tyre sizes that are not manufactured in India.
  2. Imports are also required to comply with DGFT guidelines and have to produce their import records of past 3 years, and they can only import 40% of their total trade volume of past 3 years.
